Odeng, or fishcake, is one of my favourite street food in Korea. I love eating a stick of odeng while standing at a hawker stand on the streets, followed by sipping a piping hot cup of umami odeng soup. In most
Postcard From Seoul: A Quaint Country Doll Shop In Ihwadong
This is Elisen, the talented Korean lady who makes the raggedy dolls and other handicrafts sold in g{i}ven, the shop that she runs in Ihwadong. She has a blog but it is in Korean, and I don’t read or speak
Peekture: Purple, Pink, Red Bulbs
Newly (trans)planted bulbs spotted outside the Seodaemun Prison Museum. きれいな花!
Peekture: The Bee Happy Doll
I walked into g{i}ven and saw this doll. It looks like it has been sitting there waiting for me…! 🙂
Seoul: Street Art In Ihwadong (Part II)
From the P-turn, we kept walking straight up until we saw this yellow wall painting on our left. It was a shame to have a lorry block our view of the sunny wall painting that day. *ARGH* We turned right
Peekture: Not Yet Spring, Still Winter
まだ春、もう冬がありました。 Early this year, we booked our trip to Seoul expecting to see spring in early April, only to find out that spring was delayed. It was still a winter landscape in Seoul: bare trees, frightfully cold winds, low temperatures.
Peekture: Ihwadong Flower Staircase
Three cute Korean schoolgirls asked us to take a photograph of them using their iPhone, and I took the opportunity to snap one of them myself. I love the Instagram. It gives the picture such a wonderful vintage quality.
Seoul: Street Art In Ihwadong (Part I)
We spent most of our first day exploring Ihwadong around the Naksan Park area. It was a super cold and windy day, and I was shivering under my coat all the time, secretly hoping for the sun to come out
Seoul: Gamjatang At Onedang In Myeongdong
The first thing we did after checking into our hotel at Myeongdong – the Ibis Myeongdong – was to look for a place to have dinner. For a long time, we have been experiencing massive cravings for good Korean food
Seoul: Teahouse In Insadong
Ginger tea from my favourite teahouse in Insadong. The quaint teahouse is also called Insadong. I cannot wait to go back for another cup soon.
Seoul: Korea’s Cool Public Privies
I said Seoul has an artsy vibe. I correct myself: I should have said that the artsy vibe is not just in Seoul, but can be seen in many places throughout South Korea. Just look at their public lavatories! Definitely
Seoul: Lady On The Steps
^ Steps outside the Sejong Centre for the Performing Arts, at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. People ask me what I like about Seoul. Amongst many things, the city’s artsy vibe is one of them. Its street art is amazing.
Seoul: Dosan Park
Dosan Park is a lovely spot of nature in the midst of sprawling buildings and high-end shops in that part of Gangnam. It is not a very big park, and takes probably less than 30 minutes to walk around it.
